Ballantyne Presbyterian Church's mission is to declare God's glory to Ballantyne, South Charlotte and beyond!
Purpose
At the heart, Ballantyne Presbyterian Church
exists to spread a vision of God that calls all men everywhere to
worship and enjoy Him forever. Trusting the guidance of God's
word as our ultimate authority in everything we do, we have
confidence through prayer that God will effect a reformation in our
hearts, our church, other churches, and the culture at large. Therefore, the most crucial thing we do to accomplish this vision is
to worship God as His people assembled on His day according to His
word.
We are a community of those who have received the grace of God, and
have been forgiven a multitude of sins. Therefore, we who know
the grace of God strive to display grace to others, inviting all to
come and give glory to God by trusting in Christ for the forgiveness
of sins. We thus live
as ambassadors for Christ, pleading on God's behalf that men and
women would repent from their unbelief and be renewed by God's love. Our
fellowship with one another, and with all true churches throughout
the history of mankind, is established through our mutually being
bonded to Christ and his work. This being true, it ought to
cause our hearts to be warmed towards one another, and to seek to
share with one another not only the gospel, but our very lives.
Our desire to be faithful to God and His word leads us to confess
the same doctrine and practice the same worship as the best examples
of Reformed churches. While we seek to winsomely engage our generation
with the Biblical message, we seek no innovation that would depart
from the tradition entrusted to us.
Core Values
-
A passion for the honor of God's name. The deepest desires of our heart are satisfied as we come to love and worship God.
-
A passion for the gospel. The gospel means the satisfaction of God's wrath against our sins through Christ's death, Christ's righteousness being received as our own by trusting in His person and what he accomplished in life, death, and resurrection, and freedom from the power of sin. It is our belief, our hope, and our life; it is the constitution of our church.
-
A passion for a new community. We are called to be servants of one another in a community of justice, mercy, and compassion.
-
A passion for growth and maturity. God's covenant with us provides not only the promise of forgiveness for sins, but a promise that He will free us more and more from the power of sin. Being a Christian is a call to conform our minds to the Bible: to think, feel, and do God's thoughts.
-
A passion for mission. "Missions exists because worship does not." We want others to be renewed by the grace of God and give Him the glory he deserves. Because we believe in a God who controls everything that happens, we have great confidence that God's word will be effective in the task of evangelization and missionary activity.
-
A passion for tradition. The rich heritage we have received from our forefathers in the faith has incredible relevance for the questions of today.
